Mitchell, located in the Western Downs district of the Marnoa Region, is a small country town in Queensland, Australia. It is situated on the Warrego Highway, 587 kilometers west of Brisbane with a population of approximately 1000.
The beautiful Mt. Moffat National Park, located 200 kilometers North of Mitchell, which consists of some of the Australian Outback's most unique, beautiful and natural attractions. These include sculpted sandstone outcrops and spectacular views from the highest plateau in Queensland. Also found there are some highly significant Aboriginal rock art sites in the remote section of Carnavon National Park.
The Mitchell Great Artesian Spa which provides you with a different, relaxing outback experience. A swim in these thermal, mineralised artesian waters is considered to be relaxing for the body and remedial for the soul. The Great Artesian Spa consistes of two large pools filled with artesian water. One spa contains naturally heated water from the Great Artesian Basin which is kept at an ideal temperature designed to relax those tired muscles. The other is designed for those who would prefer a 'cooler' experience.
The Maranoa Art Gallery is housed in the magnificently transformed old Maranoa Picture Theatre and is the centeral hub of Mitchell. The beautiful arts precinct includes an outstanding gallery area, library, movie projection room display and outdoor atrits' workspace and sculpture garden. It is an impressive attraction with inspiring and creative works from local, regional and metropolitan artists.
